  尼尔森来自瑞典的斯德哥尔摩,她于1984年12月出生于格伦达尔,在城南索德玛尔姆长大,她的家庭背景与音乐并无关联,有趣的是她的父母都是共产主义者。她曾形容她的父亲是她“最大的粉丝”。在学校时,尼尔森上过一些钢琴课,还和朋友们组了个朋克乐队,他们“偶尔玩玩”,但大部分时间“只是闲逛”。她从小就听很多20世纪70年代英国的朋克音乐,青少年时期她有时会尝试扮演DJ。

  大学毕业后尼尔森搬到柏林追寻音乐梦想。她在柏林夜店Berghain的衣帽间工作,同时攒钱在工作日创作歌曲2008年,她发行了首张专辑《These Things Take Time》,仅以CD-R的形式发行了500张。2009年,她发行了另一张自制专辑《Europa》。2011年,约翰·莫斯翻唱了她专辑《These Things Take Time》中的歌曲《Hey Moon》,并将其收录于自己的专辑《We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves》中,尼尔森的知名度也因此提升。2015年发行专辑《Zenith》大获成功后,尼尔森开始了世界巡演,再后来尼尔森重新发行了《Hey Moon》和歌曲《Silver》,作为一张双面单曲专辑以支持“Black Lives Matte”运动。

  尼尔森独立制作并演奏自己的音乐,但她也与Dark Skies Association 和格拉斯哥的Night School Records 合作发行了大部分作品。尼尔森的音乐风格以极简的合成器和鼓点编排为特色,常被归类为暗黑流行或低保真合成流行。她认为独处是她创作过程中必不可少的重要组成部分。在现场演出中,尼尔森经常会播放自己的CD作为伴奏进行演唱。

  Zenith/天顶,是指观测者正上方的天球点,铅垂线无限延伸向上的最高点。天顶点是测量坐标系中的一个特殊点,特殊在于天顶与观测者之间始终达成相对静止的奇妙含义。尼尔森的音乐艺术总是存在于大众期待之外,常常也不在她自己的意料中,她的创作对她而言像是一种逃离,一种回归,甚至自嘲为一种无所事事,但它的存在既无人可避也令人着迷。尼尔森在“无所事事”中展现出音乐接近灵魂的部分让无数在茫然若失的听众感到无法言说的情感支撑,或说心灵拯救也不为过。
